This message is from Babs, a friend of ours who has lost her dog (pictured left). She will be very happy if anyone has any infomation.
Dear Animal Friends, On July 1st late afternoon, early evening my dog got stolen!
He was, like every other day, in front of our shop in Klong Prao. His name is: AMON
Breed: SIBERIAN HUSKY
color: black/grey/white
sex: male
eye color: light blue, almost white
Marks: Tattoo in his left ear
age: 9 years (no dog years)
Amon is a very quiet dog, never barks and mostly just sleeps here or there. He is friendly to everyone also to kids, no problem with cats or other dogs. When it is not for food he does not listen to his name. With food he do almost everything, like give hand, lay down, sit and so on.. . He do not like to be on a leash or in closed rooms. He needs his freedom to be himself. V ery Important (also for the one who stole him!!):
Amon is coughing and he have a snotty nose, that's because he has a heart problem and needs his medicine once a month.
There are two other Huskies on Koh Chang, but it is easy to see the difference. One is a female, around 1 year and stay in Jungle Queen in White Sand and the other one is a Puppy, around 4 month old and is brown/white. So please look twice.PLEASE, if you see this dog or if you saw him in the last month please contact me. at www.piercingbabs@gmail.com or give me a call on 0895-305-503.
In the course of our travels we hear about all kinds of business and residential opportunities on Koh Chang. A few are detailed below. Just get in touch with us for more information on any of them - please remember to tell us in your e-mail which one you are interested in. If you're wondering what the frog has got to do with any of this the answer of course is nothing. We just like the picture.
1) - If you fancy living and running a business on Koh Chang but don't want the considerable hassle of setting the whole thing up then here is an opportunity for you. A small bungalow resort at Pearl Beach is available for rent or purchase. Set down a quiet road and about 200 metres from the sea there are currently 4 separate bungalows with Aircon, DVD etc. and a four room block of rooms. The bar and restaurant has living accommodation behind and upstairs and all fixtures and fittings are included. The property has a fifteen year lease and is run through a fully registered Thai company. If you're interested then get in touch with us here and we'll put you in touch with the owners.
2) - Another bungalow resort is available down the same road at Pearl Beach. This one is set in two rai of landcaped gardens a short walk from the beach and has a 15+ year lease. At the moment there are five bungalows and four rooms, a bar/restaurant area and a kitchen. They have planning permission for a further 10 bungalows and two houses. The owners are looking for offers around 4 Million Baht. As usual if you want to know more then contact us here.
3) - Good properties on the pier at Bang Bao fishing village don't come up very often so the availability of a large retail/residential property close to the sea end of the pier is a very interesting prospect. The recently-built building has a ground floor ideally suited for a restaurant with a large kitchen out back. There is a second business frontage on the main pier currently in use as a dive shop. Upstairs there are four bedrooms and a large balcony. The owners are looking for offers in the region of 15 Million Baht. Find out more here.
Alternatively if you don't fancy the idea of a working life and just want a dream home in the sun then you will be very interested to read this feature about the Siam Royal View project that is currently under development in Klong Son. Read more about the development here
Unlike the1988 movie of the same name this Midnight Run won't be featuring Robert De Niro, or the mafia for that matter. Instead it is another opportunity to do some exercise, this time to help a very good cause. You have plenty of advance warning to prepare since the event will trake place on October 11th starting, approprately enough, at midnight from the Amari Watergate Hotel in Bangkok. Organised by Amari Watergate Hotel and BMW Thailand the proceeds from the event will be donated to two different charitable organisations; the Chalerm Prakiat HRH Princess Sirindhorn School, supporting the education of children whose parents have tragically passed away due to HIV infection and "Baan Gerda", a children's village project in Lopburi, supporting HIV infected children. Participants will be entered into a grand raffle to win airline tickets, hotel stays and a host of other prizes.
The Amari Emerald Cove Resort here on the island will be sending participants so if you would like to take part then get in touch with them and they will be happy to help you enroll.
We're well into the euphemistically named 'green' season here on Koh Chang. Since there are fewer visitors at this time of year it's a good time to perform those infrastructural development projects that will make the island a better place to be in years to come. The image to the left shows one such project under way today (July 2nd) in White Sand Beach. The drains that were installed a few years ago are apparently not wide enough to deal with the flow of water in the larger downpours of the monsoon. As you can see from the sandbags the gentleman is standing upon all the local businesses suffer from flooding in these heavy rains. So here you can see the solution. Fill the drains with cement. Bet you didn't expect that one did you?
Whilst upon initial consideration this may seem about as useful as a Zimbabwean voting slip it is obviously the first part of a grand action plan to mobilise four or five hundred workers to construct a large and comprehensive drainage system before it is desperately needed in the next week or so. Isn't it?

| A minibus is travelling down the busy pedestrian-filled road at White Sand Beach at 80 kilometres per hour. If a second minibus travelling at 100 kilometres an hour overtakes the first minibus then how much faster will the second minibus reach the Ao Sapparot ferry which is 5 kilometres away? | The second minibus will reach the Ferry Terminal and commence its long wait for the ferry an enormous forty five seconds quicker than its slower counterpart. |
